Business Association Forming
Local businesses invited to "Exploratory Meeting"

Next week, on Wednesday 1/20/2010 from 7:30-9am, local businesses, organizations, public officials, bankers, and business support groups will gather in Metropolitan University's Great Hall (the big building with large windows facing Downtown) to consider, and/or simply establish, a Dayton's Bluff Business Association.

There a 4 Business Associations on the Eastside, 3 of which are local to a given portion of the Eastside.  Dayton's Bluff once had a vibrant Business Association called the East 7th St. Business Association, but as the avenue changed, and employers came and went, the association declined and is no longer active.

This effort is focused on considering whether a Dayton's Bluff Area Business Association should be formed to include all businesses in the community, as well as those adjacent to the community.

Options include: forming a Dayton's Bluff business association, or encouraging local businesses to join one of the other Eastside Associations, or to do nothing.

The event is sponsored by Metropolitan State University, the Dayton's Bluff Community Council, and several local businesses and other organizations.  Those sponsoring the meeting feel that an active and effective association would raise the profile of the community and its businesses, help promote local businesses, help get available financial and marketing resources to local businesses, and generally strengthen the local business climate and economy.

Attendance is free and a free continental breakfast is provided.  Low cost parking is available in the University Parking lot on Maria between E.6th st. and E. 7th St.   More info: ed@daytonsbluff.org, or call 651-772-2075 and ask for Ed or Karin.
